New Year's Race Los Angeles and a Haunted Hotel |theDALEYlife.com|

My wife and I headed up to LA this past weekend for the New Year's race. She was actually running the half marathon, I am there for support. Driver, carbo loading partner, and photographer. We stayed in the Biltmore hotel downtown. Not the greatest hotel I have stayed in, but the history was amazing. The Biltmore hosted the original Oscar awards back in the 1930's, was the film location of the movie "Ghostbusters," and was the last place the Black Dahlia was seen alive....and is one of the many ghost that supposedly haunt the hotel. I learned that last tidbit of info while researching it on my iPhone laying in bed next to my wife. It was on the tip of my tongue to start spewing out all of these cool stories about the hotel being haunted. Then I realized we hadn't actually slept there yet and should probably wait until morning.

We grabbed some lunch at this rad burger place called The Counter. "Custom Built Burgers" was calling my name. When we sat down, I realized the huge guy sitting behind Amanda was LA Clipper Lamar Odom. Or Khole's husband depending on which TV shows you watch.

That is Odom. My wife and I were totally playing it cool too. "He seems really nice, I think I want to give him a hug."

Since the race didn't start until 9pm, we pretty much just hung out in our hotel room. Amanda relaxed and I annoyed the shit out of her with my camera. Really cool natural light, wife trapped in small room... Money. We made it down to the starting area around 8pm. It was odd walking around Downtown LA at night with all of the streets blocked off. Just a few hours prior the streets were bustling with people, some of them did happen to smell of urine. Now it was just house music, a huge Red Bull blow up, and thousands of insane people in weird looking clothes....or as some people know them as "runner's."
