Megan + Neil The Desert Adventure Engagement Session Photography Ocotillo CA

This was more than just another photography session. This was a straight up adventure! This whole engagement thing started a few months ago when Neil proposed to Megan at the end of the 3 Day breast cancer walk in downtown San Diego. Megan and her family are life long friends and I just happened to be at the right place at the right time with a camera. So, that was lucky break #1. A few months later Megan wanted to discuss her engagement photos and mentioned going to the desert. I am always search for new places to shoot. Always looking for a challenge and getting out of the safe zone of park or beach. High desert winds wasn't the challenge I was looking for, but it totally played into the adventure we took to Ocotillo to shoot Megan and Neils engagement session.

I have never had to actually switch vehicles to make it to a photo location before. After meeting up in Lakeside, we all drove out to Ocotillo and then switched to the jeep to make it out to the dunes.

This was my first trip to the actual desert. 60mph winds + camera equipment usually isn't a good thing. I brought a hoodie with me to hide my camera in. I shot through the sleeve while covering my head with the rest. It is amazing how well this worked out. We only ended up shooting in this location for a few minutes. I was doing great with my head in my sweatshirt, but it was next to impossible for Megan and Neil to keep their eyes open with the constant sand facials. Regardless of the sand, the location was still SUPER epic to be able to photograph in. Megan visualized this location and the look of the images like a professional.
