Look at the grin on that photographer there! I am sure he is stoked to be shooting a really good friends wedding. And stoked that finding a unique place to shoot on a super hot day was only steps outside of the AC. But more than likely he is just smiling because he is always smiling. That is the amazing Dylan Mayer, one of my favorite photographers and all around just great guy. I got the chance to work as a second shooter for this wedding at Pala Mesa Resort in Fallbrook.
Whenever I get the chance to second shoot a wedding, I always try to take away something from the experience that I can apply to my own photography. What I learned from Dylan is patience. Wedding days can be hectic for just about everyone but the guest. As a photographer, you get one chance to do to the best job you can. In the past I have sometimes felt that urgency too much. After watching Dylan effortlessly (or at least look effortless) I learned to simply just trust what I know and shoot. I think any photographer will attest to the pressure of being a photographer at some point during a shoot. What I have to keep telling myself is to forget what other people think is a good image. Forget what other photographers do. Just be honest with your camera and everything else will follow. So Dylan, thank you man.
If you are looking for a very talented and unique photographer or if you are a photographer looking for inspiration I highly suggest checking out his website and blog. http://dylanmayer.com/
below are a few of the images I shot from the wedding.
Great Photos. I think the one I really liked was the one of the little girl leaning backwards looking at something. Is that the same little girl laying on the ottoman? Who what photographing the photographer photographing? Awesome pictures. Thanks for sharing.
