Shannon & Matt + One | South Ponto Beach Carlsbad, CA Maternity Photographer|
This was my first maternity photo session in over a year. There is something about photographing a woman who is creating a new life that intriges me. I never thought much about it until my wife and I had our own children. Watching her actually grow our children, it is just an unexplainable feeling to describe. Other father's know the exact feeling I am poorly trying to write about. It is the feeling that forever changes us and the reason why our wives become more than just our wife or girlfriend, but the Mother of our Children. I also feel bad that I never got any good photographs of my wife pregnant with our two children (she never reminds me. ever.) that I always want to do my best during a maternity session. Not that I am not always trying to do my best of course. But with maternity sessions, it is just different.
So. One year since my last maternity session and Shannon couldn't have made it any easier on me. During the shoot, I was progressing through looks and shots pretty fast. Usually a certain shot may take some more guidance to really nail what I was looking for, but with Shannon, every shot was so natural and she knew exactly how pose and move her body. It wasn't until after the shoot I found out her father was a photographer and the "pose" is just second nature from growing up with a camera in your face. If I am not around to photograph my daughters maternity sessions, I will at least have comfort in knowing she will make it easy on her photographer as well :) Below are a few images from our session last night.
