How to Quickly Lose Weight via Photoshop!

Summer is right around the corner. What ever are you going to do about posting those summer photos on facebook when you have been letting those running shoes gather cob webs in your closet. Stop eating carbs? emergency sign up at the local 24 hour fitness? Ahh my friends there is no need for any of that....all you need is Photoshop and an extra five minutes! (yes, this is sarcasm)

I, like many people, am a little disgusted that we are force fed unrealistic perfection via advertising. This quick tutorial isn't ment to push that issue further but I wanted to post this for two reasons. One, the bodies of models and celebrities are not as perfect as the software designers at Adobe. And two, displaying technical know-how of using a couple of tools in Photoshop to put you or your photography subjects on a level playing field.

We have all seen the before and after images of models and celebrities that grace the cover of magazines. Learn to easily do the same techniques as the pro's below! (not endorsing myself as a pro...just saying these are the tools they use.)

The main tool we are going to use for this tutorial is the "Liquify" tool. This is the tool that will be used to move certain parts of the models body. What is great about the Liquify tool is that it allows you to naturally change the shapes of people or objects without making it really noticable that you have done so. I recently used this tool when re-shaping a motorcycle glove on a model. The glove was too big for her hand and just looked like crap for the ad, so using the Liquify tool, I naturally reshaped it to look as though it was her size.

Using the clean up tools above is a tutorial all on its own (and one I will cover very soon.) As I always say, the best way to learn Photoshop and to get good at using it is just practicing. If you know what the tools are...open a photo and just practice on them. You will develop a "feel" for the pressures and opacity and brush sizes. While I can tell you what I do to edit photos you may find your own way that works better for you. Photoshopping images isn't a secret recipe or an action you can download from the plethora of photographers that are taking an original way to create and slapping generic looking labels over them. Know the tools, practice with them, and before you know it your results will get better and better.
