This was a special wedding for me. I am sure it was for Lauren and Richard as well, but I got a chance to shoot this wedding through a friend (and one of my favorite photographers) Beki. (for real...check her blog out when you get a chance and you will see why. Beki and Lauren are best friends. Since she was in the wedding, it was really hard for her to be able to shoot it as well. She hit me up and asked if I was free to shoot it. Coming from a photographer I admire, it meant a lot to have her trust my skills in shooting a wedding for someone that is close to her. And I also got the chance to kind of shadow her when she did pick up the camera. I am a self taught photographer and kind of just do what I think is right when shooting weddings. Seeing someone else do it made shooting the wedding all worth it. Well that and Lauren and Richard are probably two of the nicest people I have had the chance to work for....
The ceremony and reception was held at the beautiful Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad, CA. This place is a hidden gem and a "must" for photographers. Besides the amazing light that covers the ranch before sundown, there are a plethora of little ranch buildings, barns, amazing trees, walkways, pool, paths, etc. You could shoot here for hours and still want to keep shooting.
The officiant of the ceremony was another special treat. Being a wedding photographer you see the whole gamut of wedding officiants. Uncles, Minsters, Rabbi's. Bethel Nathan delivered the most amazing and heartfelt ceremony. You could tell she really cared for Lauren and Richard. You could feel her energy and excitement and happiness. (she has won theKnot.com, weddingwire.com "best of" for the last three years! so I guess others have seen this too...)
Below are some of the images from the wedding day.
Richard home brewed his own special batch of beer for the reception!
