Magazines, Catalogs and Promo's

Working in the motorcycle industry has afforded my the luxury of having my photography used in some of the biggest magazines in the US. I kind of lucked out on being handed the opportunity to do these projects, but at the same time being confident and prepared has allowed me to continue shooting and has developed into more commercial opportunities. Photographing families and weddings and babies is in a completely different world of photography compared to commercial work. The camera is the same, the technique is the same, but the production and purpose couldn't be more different.

When I am photographing a family, I am not looking to pose them perfectly or making sure all of the logos on their clothing is shown or if what they are doing would be natural to what consumers would be doing in real life. Commercial and print work is more of a science. The psychology of the market you are shooting for is constantly in your head. Trying to express the idea behind a product, without words, but only a photograph to evoke the emotion of a consumer into thinking what you are selling is cool is the challenge that I love. Nothing feels greater than walking into the newsstand section of a bookstore or in the airport and see things I created on display. Below are a few samples of magazines, catalogs, and promotional projects that I have shot in just the last few months.

Dirt Rider, Super Streetbike, Motorcyclist, Sport Rider, Motonation Spring Catalog, and I think there is a Cruiser magazine in there as well.

AGVSPORT promotional poster. Also used in the reintroduction campaign for the brand in late 2010. Also shot on Wildcat Canyon Road in Lakeside.

Some more promotional posters that were also used in late 2010 advertising. Middle photo was shot in the alleyway behind Por Favor in El Cajon. You can see in the left side of the photo my friend Denise almost ruined the photo with her trying to do work or something.
